Aged Care (permanent part time or casual)

Illawarra Diggers Aged & Community Care has been providing high quality care to older veterans and members of the broader community for more than 70 years. We provide a friendly and caring home for our 96 residents that seeks to enhance and support their quality and enjoyment of life.

Support Services – Kitchen, Cleaning and Laundry

Illawarra Diggers are seeking applicants for general support services roles to cover the areas of kitchen hand, cleaning and laundry services. Both permanent part-time and casual positions are available.

Essential

  • Either experience in commercial cleaning or commercial kitchen or both

  • Ability to work in a professional team environment

  • Sound communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Availability to work a variety of shifts including weekends

  • Compassion & understanding of older people

  • First Aid certificate

    Desirable

  • Certificate III Aged Care

  • Commercial laundry experience

  • Experience in residential aged care

Lifestyle Officer

Illawarra Diggers is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has been providing high quality residential aged care to the ex-services and general community of Wollongong for more than 70 years. Located in a quiet, residential area of Corrimal, Illawarra Diggers provides a friendly, caring and homely environment that seeks to enhance the quality of life of everyone who lives here.


We are currently seeking a Lifestyle Officer to join our Lifestyle Team in a permanent role.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Lifestyle Manager, our Lifestyle Team are responsible for implementing and facilitating group and individual programs which support the social, psychological, recreational, cultural and spiritual needs of our residents. The role is a minimum of three days per week, fixed hours.

If you are looking for a role where you can make a difference to the health and wellbeing of our older community then we would like to hear from you.

You will have:

  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle OR the willingness to obtain one.  Degree in health with Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy or Social Science highly regarded. 
  • Previous experience facilitating Lifestyle and Recreation programs
  • A conscientious and empathetic approach to working with older persons
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • An upbeat, engaging personality with plenty of energy and enthusiasm to share
  • Proficiency with using a computer including Microsoft Office and database programs
  • Experience working as part of a team as well as able to work autonomously
  • Excellent time-management skills and well organised

Desirable skills:

  • Residential aged care and/or experience working with clients with dementia

  • Imagination and creativity, skills in music, art, dance etc.

All applicants must be willing to undergo a federal police check as well as undertaking a pre-employment medical and functional assessment.  You are also required to have a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
