At Diggers, we are proud of our 69-year contribution to the care of veterans and other older citizens of the Illawarra, Southern Metropolitan and South Eastern regions of New South Wales.
Consistent with our not for profit charitable status we have an overriding desire to ensure the best possible quality of life for all our residents, and in particular our valued veterans, while exercising commercial prudence in our operations.
The staff of Illawarra Diggers is a friendly committed group of people who are always looking to improve their skills and capacity to ensure we deliver the best we can for our residents.
The board, who act in an honorary, voluntary capacity, are committed to ensuring Diggers does the best that it possibly can in seeking to ensure quality care and the best possible quality of life.
There are many, many positive stories of satisfaction with the care provided at Diggers. We hope that should you pursue our services for yourself or a loved one that your experience a positive.
HISTORY
The City of Wollongong RSL Sub-Branch founded the original "Illawarra Diggers' Rest Home" at Mt Keira in 1946.
The complex originally catered only for aging veterans, however later provided accommodation to the wider community when it relocated to our present site in Corrimal in 1979.
We have always enjoyed the strong support of the RSL Sub Branches and the RSL Womens' Auxiliaries of the Central South and Southern Metropolitan regions.
Illawarra Diggers is fully accredited by the Government Aged Care Standards Agency.
Please be assured that should you ever have any concerns you should feel free to raise them at any time. We see any such comments as an opportunity for further improvements.
